Almond Butter Cup

This decadent smoothie contains almond butter and a hint of cinnamon, which makes it extra tasty! The fortified almond milk provides vitamin D and calcium, while the banana provides potassium. The healthy fat from the almond butter is what will help keep you feeling indulgently satisfied.

Simple Greens

This is the ultimate green starter smoothie for beginners--especially for my green smoothie skeptics! With just 2 ingredients, it doesn't get any simpler than this. It's quick to make and perfect for anyone trying to fit in more greens into their diet. And I promise that the sweet pineapple covers up any spinach flavor. In fact, if it weren't for the color you wouldn't even know you were drinking it!

It's a great way to introduce yourself (or someone else) to the beauty of adding greens to smoothies. And the best part is that you'll be getting a glass full of iron, potassium and vitamins galore—and it tastes like a tropical treat!

SIMPLE GREENS

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups spinach, loosely packed
  • 1 cup pineapple, frozen
  • 1 cup water

INSTRUCTIONS

Place all ingredients into a blender, and mix until you reach desired consistency. Try it out and if you like it sweeter, add more pineapple. That's it!

Blueberry Goddess

Oh, this one is an immune system booster! Both blueberries and strawberries are antioxidant powerhouses, which can help fight against cancer and reduce cardiovascular disease risk*.

I recommend frozen berries so you don't need to add ice, and they're readily available and less expensive, although you can use fresh blueberries. Keep in mind that you'll almost always need a liquid to get the blender going and while I prefer to use water (since its less sugar and we're already adding fruit) you can substitute the water for orange juice, or more preferably an almond/soy/coconut milk.

The banana makes this smoothie creamy and rich without imparting any real banana flavor, so you’re safe if you don’t like bananas, or just omit and use a little less liquid.

BLUEBERRY GODESS

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup blueberries, frozen
  • 1/2 cup strawberries, frozen
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tbsp wheat germ
  • 1 cup water

DIRECTIONS

Place first 4 ingredients into a blender, add more or less water depending on the consistency you prefer. If you like your smoothies thicker, add less liquid and if you like your smoothies thinner, add more liquid.
